I was commissioned to design custom T-shirts and mugs for Eremita Cafe, a neighborhood coffee shop in Roxborough, Philadelphia. I also photographed the finished merchandise for promotional and marketing use.
My goal was to use elements of the cafe's already beautiful aesthetic to have customers be able to take a little piece of Eremita home with them.

These designs are inspired by the striking colors of the mural by Philly artist Alison Dilworth. As well as the definition of Eremita, which is placed along the front of their storefront.
The definition reads:
“One who abandons distraction to look deep inward and outward simultaneously; a seer”

Mug Design
The outdoors, and specifically the woods, is a space people can go to seek being away from distraction. The mug illustration takes the colors of a sunrise or sunset, and I created a scene of someone's point of view walking through a silhouetted forest. A calm space for someone seeking solitude.
The accents you see around the logo on the mug as well as on the shirt are taken from the floor tiles of the cafe.
